FCCAPC & WSFCCA-Working in Relationship to support the community of children, families, and Early Learning Providers in Washington State
Family Child Care Association of Pierce County: Our Proud History
FCCAPC is a child care provider support organization founded in 1968. Our group of licensed family child care providers is managed by a peer group of family child care providers who seek to design meetings that link child care professionals together for discussions of efficient business policies, best practice, and current training in all domains of child development, It is also a time to share personal stories of the rewarding and challenging aspects of this unique job. We are an affiliated chapter of Washington State Family Child Care Association
WSFCCA Goal: To enhance and improve the quality of care provided to the children in Washington State.
The purpose of the Association is to educate, protect and give status to family child care providers. Through publications, meetings, training and networking, child care providers are kept informed of issues pertaining to child care. This Association is a means of bringing the concerns and voices of all providers together in order to share ideas, resources, and to problem solve.
Each chapter reflects the diverse issues of the providers in that area. Check out our membership benefits and contact a chapter near you Washington
State Family Child Care Association
What is FCCAPC exactly?
It's a non profit organization run by volunteer family home child care providers for family home child care providers.
Each fiscal year, we have several meetings at the south Bates Campus in Tacoma for STARS trainings, networking, vendor shopping and other resources such as Blood Born Pathogens.
We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:00 PM to about 8-8:15 PM of October, November, January, February, March, April and have the coolest event called the Tour of Homes in May.
In this two hour window for our meetings, we have networking time to get to know one another and enjoy a desert together, shop a few vendors, get a 1 hour STARS training and there's even fun door prizes!
The goal is to bring us out of our homes and feel supported by others that are going through the same victories and challenges as us by getting to know the providers in our community. There is something unique about us that open our homes to provide hours upon hours of care to several families. We relate to one another in ways no one else can, so support is necessary.
Most often, we leave the meetings feeling refreshed from some fun (hello self care), new inspiration from our training and professionally motivated to continue giving our best to our programs.
